Bengal cats are a truly spectacular breed, and if you think they look more like a wild leopard than a household cat you would not be wrong! The Bengal Cat was developed a little over 40 years ago by breeding domestic kitty cats to the Asian leopard cat (no, we don't know how, and we aren't going to ask). In fact, Bengal cats are classified by how many generations they are removed from their original wild parent. The kitten of the Asian leopard is called an F1. And every following generation gets a numerical designation such as F2, F3, F4, etc. To be considered a truly domestic cat, a Bengal must be at least an F4. Put simply, if a cat is truly bengal, then it as least 2% Wild Asian Leopard cat, which we think is pretty cool...
The Bengal may have wild grandparents, but the domestic bengal cat is a big naughty softy. Whilst many cat breeds can be aloof with their humans the Bengal is an active member of the family and many consider them to be quite dog-like. They love company, especially children and other cats and dogs.
But never forget they are an intelligent and curious breed. Bengals are NOT set & forget, they expect to be an active member of your family and love lots of vertical places to jump and climb, and have shallow water to play with. if you don't give them cat trees and water bubblers they will renovate your book cases and bathrooms for you!
But in reward for being given the chance to express themselves physically they will reward you by being a gregarious member of your family, they are very very chatty, will happily settle down on the sofa with you to watch TV or sleep on your pillow and will even go for a walk with you. So we consider them well worth the work
Bengals are famous for their stunning coats, but that doesn't mean they can only look one way. The Bengal Cat that probably comes first to mind is the super popular brown spotted.
But there is actually 6 colours of Bengals - Brown, Snow, Silver, Charcoal, Blue and Melanistic (solid black) and each colour of coat comes accessorised with a different eye colour to match the coat.
Then there are two kinds of patterns - spotted or marbled. Then if you want to get really into it there are a multitude of different kinds of spots.
Once you add in the unique bengal glitter, the luxurious feel of their pelt, and the hypo-allergenic bonus factor... it really is tempting to collect a whole set!
Rose is the boss.
Boss of the cats, boss of the dogs and definitely boss of the humans.
Rose is three years old and has left her kitten days behind her... if we don;t want to deal with "grumpy cat" Rose must be appeased by being allowed to steal roast meat off our forks and her own bedroom or there is hell to pay at Fairytail Forests
Rose is a Warm Brown
Little Missy is the middle child but she's still a baby herself, she was our Christmas Kitty and will be having her first birthday in October.

She really keeps us on our toes
